Strangers’ Day

Anonymous

To whoever finds this,

There are some people in your life with whom you stop talking to but never really stop wishing well, and you are that person for me.

I’m sorry that the ending hurt you. No matter how necessary it was, I never wanted my decision to become your pain.

I know breakups don’t just end relationships but they interrupt routines, futures, and the quiet comfort of knowing someone is there, they put a deep hope that might never get filled so easily again..... it did for me, and I know it did for you too.....

The truth is, I haven’t completely moved on either, yk some days are easier than others. Sometimes I still catch myself wondering about how you’re doing. Missing someone and knowing you shouldn’t go back can exist at the same time is a different kind of lingering pain.

Leaving wasn’t a rash decision. It came after a lot of thinking, doubting, hoping, and accepting and believe me if I could have stayed without losing parts of myself or hurting us both in the long run, I would have. But I couldn’t.....

So this isn’t a letter asking for another chance really coz I am pretty sure you aren’t using this app haha.... but it’s just my way of putting my emotions into words.

It’s a letter hoping that life is treating you gently and you are excelling in your pursuits. I hope you’ve found reasons to smile that have nothing to do with me. I hope the memories eventually feel warm instead of heavy. And I hope that, one day, both of us can look back without anger or regret just gratitude for what we once shared, because deep down I believe you made me a better person, and I hope I could add some positive things also in your life.

Some people are meant to change us, not stay with us..... just so you know, you were my first love and probably the only person I loved yet....so I can never harbour ill intent regarding you.

All I want is that you be happy and keep smiling.

6 months in and I still love you, but I would not want to get back...

hope you stay happy
